Had our fish tonight from this location as the Bowmanville location was closed. Both fish and chips were very tough and not enjoyable at all. Finding a piece of a paper bag in Caesar salad was also unacceptable. Wasn’t busy at all so maybe that should have been my first clue to go elsewhere.
Worst Captain George’s experience ever. Chips were undercooked on the inside but burnt on the outside. Fat too hot? Had to literally saw through the edge of the very small piece of halibut, leaving the edge bit of fish behind. Server was pleasant but needs to tidy up and present a cleaner more professional appearance.

Well done everyone. Good Friday being one of your busiest days, everything was well organized and running like clock work. We waited10 minutes past the time slot BUT, I prefer that than seeing my food waiting for me. Everything was great and the suggested amount of food for 6 adults, 2 children was bang on. Will see you soon.
Captain George's is not to be confused with a five star restaurant, but it is a great place to have a quick meal at a very reasonable price. The staff at the Newcastle store are incredibly friendly and very efficient
This was the best take out meal we have ever had! The halibut was a good size and delicious. The breaded shrimp were amazing. The chicken strips were made from real chicken. The fries were perfect! We will be ordering from here again!
The food was deliciously amazing !!! Serving was big! We ordered the 2 fish fries and salad, it was more than enough for my wife and I.I highly recommend this place if you are on the hunt for fish and chips! Friendly new owner!
